Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival 2014
29th May – 1st June 2014, Ballyshannonwww.rorygallagherfestival.com Ireland’s greatest Rock ‘n Blues Guitarist Rory Gallagher will be celebrated in the town of his birth Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal with the award-winning 4 day Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival between Thursday 29th May and Sunday 1st June 2014. The world renowned musician was born at the appropriately named Rock Hospital in Ballyshannon in 1948 and later became one of the world’s great rock ‘n blues guitarist. Over 10,000 fans from over 20 different countries will converge on Ballyshannon for the Festival in Rory’s honour with 30 acts performing on 15 stages over the 4 days. Here are some of the Preliminary details released in November 2013 – more acts will be announced in early 2014: Rory’s former band members will be among the highlights performing at the Festival Big Top, with Rory’s long serving bass player Gerry McAvoy, drummer Ted McKenna and Marcel Scherpenzeel (Holland) on lead guitar and vocals with ‘The Band of Friends’. Other notable acts performing include Pat McManus & his band – The ‘Mama’s Boy’s’ legend that is Pat McManus returns to perform his favourite Festival.
